Rothe House, Kilkenny City

Built for his new bride by merchant Prince John Rothe in 1594, Rothe House has fulfilled many functions in the intervening centuries. In effect three houses, separated by cobbled stone court yards and with a well dating to 1610, the house(s) themselves are a splendid example of a Tudor town house. Even before you consider the contents of this remarkable heritage centre, the house itself is well worth a visit.

A Family History Research Service for Co. Kilkenny is available to patrons.

Address:  Parliament Street, Kilkenny City
