Waterford is the perfect destination to enjoy the outdoors as it’s located in the sunny south east and has a diverse and beautiful landscape of coastline, beaches, mountains, rivers and woodland. It offers its visitors a wide range of outdoor activities, most of which are available to enjoy all year round. Here we have picked some of the top activities to enjoy…

Golfing at Faithlegg

Faithlegg is one of the top golf courses in the south-east of Ireland and can be found just 6km from Waterford city. It has a spectacular setting, on a 200 acre estate on the banks of the River Suir. This 18 hole parklands course was designed by Paddy Merrigan – a renowned Irish golf course architect and features undulating greens, five lakes, mature trees and some cleverly placed sand traps. Failthlegg is sure to test even the most intrepid golfer and with the magnificent Faithlegg House in the background, this truly is a superb golfing experience.

Horse Racing at Tramore

Head for the pretty seaside town of Tramore if you want to enjoy a day at the races. Horse racing has a long tradition in Tramore (over 200 years!) and first became popular with horse racing on the beach with is still a popular activity here. If you want to experience and soak up the buzz and excitement of horse racing then check out a race meeting at Tramore Racecourse. The racecourse is within walking distance of the town and claims to be one of the most intimate horse racing setting in Ireland. Tramore racecourse features flat and jump racing throughout the year and the main race meetings are Richard Power Handicap Hurdle in the August Racing Festival and the Wilf Dooley Handicap Steeplechase in early January.

Dungarvan Charter Boats
