Curracloe, Wexford

The Wexford coastline is blessed with beautiful beaches. Prime among them is the Blue Flag beach at Curracloe, a particularly safe area for bathing. Situated about 24km from Enniscorthy and about 8km north of Wexford Town, the area has been sensitively developed as an amenity for visitors to enjoy.

North of Curracloe is nearby Ballinesker beach, which was featured in the opening sequence of Steven Spielberg's award winning World War II drama, "Saving Private Ryan".

Fabulous beach rides can also be experienced on Curracloes' golden sands by contacting the Fiske Family at Curracloe House Equestrian Centre.

Shore Fishing in the area also offers exciting prospects which makes it particularly rewarding.

Within 14/15 minutes drive of Curracloe is the famous Wexford Wildfowl Reserve. As many as 10,000 (1/3 of the world's total population) of Greenland, white fronted geese winter here. Large flocks of geese, ducks and wading birds to be viewed in autumn. The well-equipped visitor centre has many interesting exhibitions. There are hides and other facilities for bird watching.
